Aiala Hernando
A leading voice and practitioner in arts & culture, Aiala works where culture, innovation and nation-building meet. With 15 years' experience across the US, Europe and the Gulf, she shapes and leads city-scale cultural programmes, from light festivals to new museums, public art biennials and global art fairs, by bringing together large teams and partner consortia to turn strong ideas into public experiences.
She leads the Arts & Culture division at Electra in Dubai, partnering with governments, cultural authorities and developers on public-realm programmes, mega-events and cultural initiatives. Her work threads through Art Basel Miami, the Venice Biennale, Abu Dhabi’s Public Arts Biennial and Noor Riyadh, alongside collaborations with leading artists, curators and institutions across the region, including the Department of Culture & Tourism in Abu Dhabi, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture.
Recently recognised by Forbes for her contribution to the region’s creative future, she is a leading voice shaping discourse and practice, exploring where national agendas, cultural diplomacy and innovation meet, and how culture can broaden who gets to make, fund and experience it.
