Emotional State is an artwork series created as a contemporary and disruptive interpretation of the classic Rijksmuseum floral paintings. These three works capture different scenes of our contemporary lives, and turn the illusions depicted in the Golden Age into tangible imperfect moments, revealing intimate scenes of our modern lives. Each photograph's unique name is a reference to the message cards that often accompany the flowers, perhaps those gifted by someone as a symbol of love, hope or regret. The images capture some apparently irrelevant emotional states of a person's life, which become meaningful only when we see ourselves immersed in the moment itself. Emotional State series can be seen as part of The Rijks exhibition at Public House of Art, in Amsterdam.
